The construction project on Buade Street will directly affect:

👉 This construction will significantly limit bus access to the heart of Old Québec until November 2026.

❗ Restricted access: Who will be allowed to enter?

During construction:

  • Access will be restricted and require a permit
  • Access will be prioritized for:
    • guests of the Château Frontenac
    • cruise ship passengers

➡️ For many groups, direct access to Place d’Armes will no longer be possible.

The permit can be requested by the carrier or the customer, depending on the situation. Forms and procedures are available on the city’s website.

Alternative drop-off zones will be set up outside the restricted area.

Please note:

  • Walking required to access attractions
  • Adjustments to tour routes

👉 Use of the drop-off zones must be limited to brief stops for picking up or dropping off passengers, in order to ensure smooth traffic flow.

⏱️ Traffic and travel times: for vehicles with a license

Traffic will be adjusted according to the phases:

  • Phase 1 (late March to mid-June 2026): Rue Saint-Louis will be two-way
  • Phase 2: Rue des Remparts will reopen for exit traffic

  • Signage will be updated with universal symbols
  • Information is now available in French and English
  • Hoteliers and tourism stakeholders have been notified so they can pass on the guidelines
